CMSP understands that strengthening the healthcare workforce pipeline now will lead to improved healthcare delivery in the future. To that end, the Governing Board expanded its partnership with the Department of Healthcare Access and Information (HCAI) to include funding for four scholarship programs that assist future healthcare providers in achieving their career goals and encourage them to live and serve in CMSP counties.
All scholarship awardees are current residents and/or high school graduates of a CMSP county. Additionally, every awardee will provide care in a CMSP county for at least one-year following graduation. Award amounts vary by program.
Associate Degree Nursing of Scholarship Program (ADNSP)
ADNSP scholarships were made available to individuals pursuing an Associate Degree of Nursing and who intend to become a Registered Nurse. Award amounts range up to $8,000 per award.
Bachelor of Science Nursing Scholarship Program (BSNSP)
BSNSP scholarships were made available to individuals pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and who intend to become a Registered Nurse. Award amounts range up to $10,000 per award.
Vocational Nursing Scholarship Program (VNSP)
VNSP scholarships were made available to individuals attending school to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Award amounts range up to $4,000 per award.
Advanced Practice Healthcare Scholarship Program (APHSP)
APHSP award amounts range up to $25,000 per award. Awards were made available to individuals pursuing one of the following graduate or post graduate degree programs that enable them to work in the listed professions.
Master of Science or Doctor of Nursing Practice – Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Nurse Practitioner, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, or Clinical Nurse Specialist
Doctor of Pharmacy – Pharmacist
Master or Doctor of Physical Therapy – Physical Therapist
Master of Physicians Assistant – Physician Assistant
Doctor of Dental Medicine – Dentist
Doctor of Chiropractic – Chiropractor
Master of Counseling – Rehabilitation Counselor
CMSP awarded $631,645 to students who are residents of and/or graduated high school from 16 CMSP counties.
